GENERAL PURPOSE: The Older Girl Scout Program Specialist position leads the development and delivery of the Girl Scout program for 6-12 grade through our council-led and community site locations. This position coordinates the successful delivery of programming for our older Girl Scouts programs for our specific older Girl Scout membership audiences and perform a wide variety of duties and assignments to ensure quality, focused delivery, and evaluation of programs to Girl Scouts. The Older Girl Scout Program Specialist reports to the Girl Scout Program Manager as part of the Program team and works collectively with all GSCO departments towards the completion of GSCO Older Girl Scout program focused goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
            Older Girl Scout Program Development
  • Act as the GSCO subject matter expert for youth between 6th through 12th grade and Girl Scout programming specific to this audience.
  • Develop in-person and virtual programs for Girl Scout across Colorado to engage and retain 6th through 12th grade youth.
  • Collaborate with funding partners to develop quality programs that meet the needs of funder and organizations missions.
  • Assist in training Program team and council staff in working with 6th- 12th grade youth and the supporting developed programs.
Program Delivery
  • Deliver Girl Scout programs in-person and virtually for Girl Scouts and adult members in assigned geographical areas.
  • Create materials, such as videos or activities, to aid in facilitation of programming.
  • Adapt programming to meet the needs of Girl Scouts and adult members.
Program Administration
  • Assist in the recruitment of Girl Scouts through programming in assigned geographical areas.
  • Collaborate with Girl Scout Program Manager in establishing new locations for recruitment and program delivery.
  • Provide constant communication with community point persons to ensure a strong relationship and consistent program opportunities.
  • Maintain current and accurate records of all Girl Scouts served and ensure program registration is done in a timely manner.
PRIMARY CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Support reporting and communication with Fund Development team regarding grants, donors, and other fundraising efforts related to staff-led programming.
  • Collaborate with statewide leadership team to develop unified direction and guidance in the formulation, integration, and implementation of statewide goals.
  • Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado in the area of pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served.
  • Work cross functionally with other departments to support membership and the council’s plan of work.

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret relevant publications, policies and procedures.

    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Night and weekend availability is required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with other departments.
  • Knowledge of Girl Scout program desired.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills desired.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

EXPERIENCE
  • One year demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse population, preferably with youth.
  • Two years’ experience in facilitating program with youth.
  • Experience developing curriculum for 6th – 12th grade youth.  

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
  • Computer and related software, telephone, e-mail, fax machines, copiers and equipment commonly found in an office environment

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
  • Dynamic and changing work environment with variable working schedule including evenings, weekends and some overnight stays.
  • Will be required to travel within the state of Colorado, with the possibility of overnight stay.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers and vendors.
  • Access to transportation with insurance at required state levels to conduct business statewide.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the Girl Scout insurance company.
  • May be required to transport Girl Scout materials weighing up to 30 pounds from a vehicle to a building as well as preparing facilities for meetings, with or without assistance.
